Answer: UVT's 4 mm non-standard ball spline achieved 500 million reciprocations under severe conditions - but a life number is only meaningful with its duty cycle (load, speed, acceleration, stroke, frequency). UVT publishes durability results with working conditions and validates non-standard splines with duty-cycle testing before mass production.
Life is a function of load, speed, acceleration, stroke and frequency. A component that survives 500 million cycles at low speed may fail early at high acceleration or with a different stroke. This is why UVT evaluates life with the actual duty cycle of each application, not a single isolated number.
| Test item | What it verifies |
|---|---|
| Dimensional stability | Fit and interchangeability across batches |
| Wear and play growth | Clearance increase after high-cycle reciprocation |
| Heat build-up | Temperature rise at speed under load |
| Surface treatment durability | PVD / DLC / black oxide adhesion and wear behavior |
UVT's UNS program covers custom shaft diameter and length, stroke, flange interfaces, special materials (stainless steel) and surface treatments (PVD, DLC, black oxide, anti-rust). Prototype delivery in 2-3 weeks with working-condition testing before mass production.
Semiconductor lines are dust-sensitive. UVT recommends stainless steel shafts without anti-rust oil, and PVD/DLC treatments that reduce friction particles and improve wear resistance in high-cycle machines.
